Background & Objective: Evaluation of the clinical training environment should be considered as an integral component of an optimal learning environment Therefore the purpose of this study was to evaluate the educational environment of residents at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences Iran based on DRECT (Dutch Residency Educational Climate Test) questionnaire toward educational group accreditation in 20142015 Methods: This mixedmethod study was conducted in two phases The statistical population consisted of all residents in the field of internal medicine (n = 50) The first phase of the present study was performed quantitatively and using DRECT questionnaire The second phase of the study was performed a qualitatively through semistructured interviews with the target group The face validity and reliability of the questionnaire were approved using the views of 5 educational experts and Cronbachs alpha (α = 090) respectively The collected data were analyzed using Pearson coefficient and independent ttest in SPSS software Results: The results of this study demonstrated a meaningful correlation between the fields of professors role formal education guiding and evaluation and decision making for patients treatment The highest correlation was related to the two fields of formal education and decision making for patients treatment (P = 0001) and the least correlation was related to professors role and formal education (P = 0009) In qualitative analysis the strengthens of the group were regular attendance of classes morning reports and planning The weaknesses included revising the educational environment high load of clinical work high number of shifts little amount of time for theoretical studying and lack of attention to specialty skills Conclusion: According to the results the head of educational groups should move toward improving the quality of education in terms of residents cooperation and team work

Background & Objective: The educational environment has a fundamental role in the quality and efficiency of education The present study was undertaken to identify the perceptions of students on the educational environment in 4 major clinical wards at teaching hospitals affiliated to Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences Iran in 2014 Methods: In this descriptive crosssectional study educational environment was evaluated using the Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) Sampling was conducted through census and the study population included all medical students (n = 184) passing their clinical courses in the internal pediatrics surgical obstetrics and gynecology wards in 3 hospitals affiliated to Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences Data were analyzed using ANOVA and Tukeys tests Results: The mean score achieved from the total 200 scores of the questionnaire was 10483 (524%) Although there was no significant difference between total scores of major clinical wards the pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology wards obtained the highest lowest scores respectively No significant correlation was found between education and gender and the subscales of educational environment A significant difference was observed between major clinical wards in the subscale of teachers (P < 0001) Conclusion: The educational environment at clinical wards was considered as good by students Nevertheless problematic areas exist in all subscales of educational environment The obtained results can be utilized to better understand and resolve educational environment issues in Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences

Background and Objective: Outpatient educational environments are used for the teaching of a broad range of medical disciplines. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to assess these environments with valid and reliable tools. The Ambulatory Care Learning Education Environment Measure (ACLEEM) can be used for this purpose. The objective of this study was to assess the educational environment at outpatient clinics in teaching hospitals of Kerman University of Medical Sciences, Kerman, Iran.Methods: This descriptive-analytical study which was cross-sectional in nature was conducted in Kerman University of Medical Sciences in 2013-14. The study population, based on census sampling, consisted of 70 residents specializing in internal, gynecological, pediatric, and surgical disciplines. The data collection tool was a valid and reliable questionnaire consisting of 2 sections, demographic questions and 50 questions in 8 domains. Data were analyzed using SPSS software and descriptive tests (frequency, mean, and standard deviation) and analytical tests (ANOVA and t-test).Results: The total score of the questionnaire was 62.90 which showed the partially desirable status of the outpatient educational environment in the studied population. In terms of the total scores for each domain, the domains of clinical teacher competence (14.91 ± 2.99), clinical activity and patient care (12.85 ± 2.78), and time allocation for nonclinical activities (8.94 ± 2.93) obtained the highest scores, respectively. There was no significant relationship between sex, age, and educational year and mean score of each domain (P > 0.05). However, this relationship was significant for the field of study variable (P < 0.05). The highest mean score was related to gynecology residents (65.68 ± 5.7) and the lowest mean score was related to surgery residents (60.60 ± 5.9).Conclusion: The findings showed that the resident's perspective of the outpatient environment is not satisfactory. Therefore, it is expected that the related authorities provide a favorable and conducive environment for teaching and learning through planning.

Background & Objective: Universities use different tools to evaluate their own teaching practices and many factors are involved in the education process that may affect learning This study aimed to evaluate educational environment from the view of clinical psychology student of the Science and Research Branch of the Islamic Azad University Tehran Iran based on the Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) model Methods: This descriptive study was conducted on 30 female students of clinical psychology in Islamic Azad University The subjects were selected through convenience sampling method Data were collected using DREEM and analyzed using SPSS software Results: The majority of samples were 1823 years old and 767% of them were single The mean and standard deviation of students perception score in the 5 domains of learning (total score = 60) teachers (total score = 55) academic ability (total score = 40) educational environment (total score = 50) and social conditions (total score = 35) respectively were 4099 ± 1352 3707 ± 1076 2364 ± 889 3917 ± 1474 and 2220 ± 878 No statistically significant difference was observed between demographic information and mean educational environment score (P < 0001) Conclusion: An important characteristic of the social status of the university is that it directly impacts education Thus the improvement of this status must be prioritized by officials In this respect holding training and retraining classes in order to gain learning skills and improve educational environments consulting students and designing problem management methods may be effective in the educational empowerment of students

Background & Objective: Educational environment is an important determinant in success of a curriculum The quality of educational environment is one of the elements of effective learning The aim of this study was designing a valid and reliable tool for assessing academic educational environment in schools of health Methods: Using a theoretical sampling method eight students and three faculty members of School of Health Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences (Iran) were interviewed and 81 items related to educational environment were extracted These items were classified in six domains including school atmosphere teaching faculty members students educational equipments and facilities and physical environment Expert panels and assessing item impact were used to determine face validity and content validity ratio and index were used to determine content validity of the tool To determine its construct validity 250 students in completed the questionnaires and confirmatory factor analysis was applied Reliability of the tool was determined by Cronbachs Alpha and intracluster correlation coefficient Results: Due to expert panel and calculating item impact and content validity ratio and index the tool items decreased from 81 to 56 The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that all of factor loadings were significant in level of 005 Cronbachs Alpha for total items was 094 and for six domains ranged from 065 to 085 Moreover intracluster correlation coefficient for total items was 094 Conclusion: The designed tool has good validity and reliability and can be used as a suitable tool for assessing academic educational environment in schools of health

Background & Objective : Educational institutions use different tools for evaluating their own activities In this study DREEM (Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure) model was used as a diagnostic tool to evaluate curriculum problems and efficacy of change in education Methods : This crosssectional study was conducted in four major clinical wards including internal medicine pediatrics obstetrics ;gynecology and general surgery in four educational hospitals of Iran University of Medical Sciences A questionnaire including 35 questions concerning three domains of students learning teachers and educational atmosphere was distributed amongst 53 clinical teachers in the aforementioned wards Results : The mean score was 116 out of 140 which was interpreted as very satisfactory Regarding all three domains of learning teachers and educational environment the highest mean score belonged to pediatrics ward whereas the least belonged to internal medicine ward There was a significant difference between clinical wards concerning educational environment (P=0042) The internal medicine wards score was 393 while pediatrics ward got 462 Conclusion : According to the mean score it seems that the university teachers consider learning and teaching to be suitable As for the least score which was given to educational environment in internal medicine ward it seems that problems in appropriate communication between teachers and learners in this ward have led to a stressful environment Since DREEM model is suitable for educational changes comparing teachers and learners points of view and planning to solve problems in internal ward could be useful
