Background & Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the condition in the Department of Environmental Health Engineering from different viewpoints and determining its changes during the period under study as well as reviewing their strengths and weaknesses opportunities and threats to enhance the level of quality Methods: This was a descriptive study that was done for six years from 2008 untill 2013 by Environmental Health Department Goals faculty members students courses and curriculum the teaching learning and graduates groups were evaluated Then criteria and indicators were developed Results: Interviews observation questionnaires and check list for each evaluation criteria according to their importance in comparison with other markers were weighted Finally the overall results obtained at the minimum and maximum weight of each criterion was determined based on scores according to Likert scale Conclusion: Environmental Health Department has been earned 302 out of the total 361 points State of Department of Environmental Health a total of six years was satisfactory and has been growing The only unfavorable case was the lack of credit given to groups that operate in the area of group decision making is not straight Identifying the bottlenecks recommended to be taken in order to focus on improving the challenging situations

Background & Objective : Internal evaluation is a process concerning information collection and judgment in order to improve educational activities Considering some facts related to educational measurement and collecting information will lead to a better understanding of the mentioned process In this study we conducted the internal evaluation of the endodontics department in Tehran University of Medical Sciences which is responsible for training dentistry students and residents Methods : In this descriptive study internal evaluation was conducted using 10 steps in 9 fields including management and organization faculty members learners human resources and support educational research and other atmospheres facilities regarding education research etc courses educational programs teaching and learning process patients and finally graduates satisfaction Data was collected using observation interview questionnaire and checklist Results : According to the definition of satisfactory results of this study were mostly qualitative and in some cases they were quantitative The average result of the internal evaluation of the endodontics department in the school of dentistry considering 9 fields was 737% which was considered as approximately satisfactory The results for fields like faculty members and learners were satisfactory (100% and 778% respectively) Atmospheres and educational facilities were unsatisfactory (both were 46%) Conclusion : According to the results atmospheres and educational facilities which were identified as the weakest fields need more consideration and investigation

Background: Comprehensive evaluation of educational systems involves the evaluation of programs and performances of the whole administrative system as well as schools and educational departments In accreditation model a recently emerged model internal evaluation is the first step and it ensures the internal quality of universities Objective: To determine the educational statue of educational groups in Kerman School of Medicine from 19941998 through internal evaluation as the first step of accreditation Method: In this descriptive study educational performance indicator including drop out rate waste rate survival rate average of study duration and rejection rate of Kerman Medical students admitted from 199498 (n= 486) were determined by using Report Cards of Students Results: From all studied subjects 250 students were female and 239 were male The waste rate of the total examined students was 37% the rejection rate was 35% Average of study duration was 1525 semesters drop out rate was 08% and promotion rate was 965% The rejection rates of the nonquota and quota students were respectively 25% 77% The minimum rejection rate (3%) was in year 1996 and the maximum rejection rate (39%) was in year 1994 The maximum rejection rates were related to the second semester of the first year in admitted students of 1995(163%) 1996(12%) and 1998(104%) In all academic years the maximum failure rates were for basic sciences and specialized courses (67%) Conclusion: Since the maximum rejection rate in all three studied years is related to the second semester of first year and the maximum failure rate was found for basic sciences and specialized courses it is necessary that educational authorities as well as the educational programmers review the lesson arrangement and contents of these courses
