Background: E-learning is one of the new methods of education that helps to increase people’s knowledge and performance by using new technologies.Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitude of graduate and postgraduate students of Kerman University of Medical Sciences toward using e-learning technology.Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out among graduate and postgraduate students of Kerman University of Medical Sciences in autumn 2017. The data were collected by a researcher-made questionnaire whose validity and reliability was verified (α = 0.82). Data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical tests (including t-test, ANOVA, and Spearman correlation) to investigate the relationship between the mean score of e-learning usefulness and students’ demographic information in SPSS software.Results: About 80% of e-learning students found it a good tool for the exchange of information and educational content between faculty and students at different universities and more than 40% believed that e-learning could improve the quality of education. About 57% of the participants were interested in using the technology. More than 70% of the students reported e-learning to be useful. Also, there was a significant relationship between the mean score of the usefulness of e-learning with age (P = 0.049), computer use skill (P = 0.025), and mobile use skill (P <0.001).Conclusion: From the students’ perspective, using e-learning technology is useful and it saves time and costs, and improves the quality of their education. It also makes it easier for students to answer their questions later. Therefore, it may be better to use this technology besides the traditional method to make it more effective.

Background Today, information technology and communications play an important role in the promotion of education quality. Some pedagogical studies have been conducted with a focus on electronic learning. This study aims to evaluate the level and distribution of articles on electronic-learning of medical sciences in the Iranian journals of medical sciences. Methods To collect data, English- and Persian-language scientific-research journals in medical sciences published from 2011 to the end of 2015 were evaluated. Titles, keywords, and methods were searched in the most reliable journals to extract articles in line with the study objectives. The data were analyzed based on descriptive statistics using Excel software. Results According to the results of the current study, only 1 journal allocated more than 10% (14.6% of all evaluated articles) of its published articles to e-learning in medical sciences (totally 14.6%). The highest ratio of articles on e-learning in medical education to the total articles was found in the Iranian Bimonthly of Education Strategies in Medical Sciences (0.146) and strides in development of Medical Education (0.094); and the lowest ratio was found in the Journal of Advances in Medical Education and Professionalism (0.31). Conclusions Limitations such as hardware and software infrastructures, as well as lack of interest and time by professors were considered as barriers to study electronic skills and technology sciences and their institutionalization within the curriculum.

Background & Objective: Advances in information and communication technology has created new attitudes toward education and its methods Thus changing learning approaches to training through the use of electronic resources and virtual education has become important The purpose of this study was to compare the two virtual and traditional education methods in terms of practical skills in prehospital emergency paramedic technicians Methods: This quasiexperimental study was performed in 2013 Practical skills such as basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation triage and familiarity with emergency equipment and correct transference method were taught through workshops and electronic learning in two groups of 40 people Then learners satisfaction with the education methods was measured and data were analyzed using SPSS software Results: The mean theory scores of all courses were significant There were significant differences between the mean scores of practical courses of cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation equipment and transference through workshops and electronic learning However no significant difference was observed among the two methods in triage training Conclusion: According to the results the electronic learning method is recommended in courses such as triage that have more theoretical aspects for paramedic technicians Considering the characteristics of electronic learning it can be used as a complementary method to traditional education

Background & Objective: Education is one of the fundamental pillars for developing capabilities skills and competencies in the society Comparing elearning and traditional teaching methods help teachers and educational stakeholders in designing developing and implementing appropriate learning courses for learners The purpose of this study was to compare lecturebased and elearning methods effects on learning and motivating physicians on the topic of acute respiratory failure using models strategies and techniques of instructional design Methods: In a quasiexperimental study 60 general physicians selected by available sampling were divided into two equal groups (n = 30) based on the two instructional methods Learning content in the control group was based on the compiled programs of Continuing Medical Education and in the elearning group it was based on the same programs with integration of the instructional design models Data were collected in pretest posttest using motivation assessing questionnaire using Merrill and Reigeluth models Results : There was no significant difference between pretest and posttest scores of participants (P > 005) But after educational programs the motivation of physicians in control group (1261 ± 397) was significantly (P < 005) less than experimental group (14383 ± 545) Conclusion: The results of this study showed a significant increase in participants motivation after using electronic medical continuing education

Background & Objectives: In the world of information technology tendency toward using electronic learning as a novel learning style is increasing The contribution to electronic learning is dependent on the knowledge and attitude of faculty members toward this issue The aim of this study was to find the knowledge and attitude of faculty members in Guilan University of Medical Sciences toward electronic learning Methods: In this descriptive crosssectional study by using census sampling all faculty members in Guilan University of Medical Sciences were studied of whom 220 ones eventually responded to the questionnaire Data collection instrument was a questionnaire consisted of 4 sections of demographic features (5 questions) computer knowledge (6 questions) attitudetesting items (10 questions based on Likert scale) and questions related to the facilities (8 yes/no questions) Competency (9 questions) Content validity and reliability were determined by α cronbach Data analysis was performed by SPSS 16 software package Results: The majority of respondents had sufficient knowledge (683%) and positive attitude (894%) From all 695% asserted that they have the required computer skills but 95% said that they do not have enough facilities in home and university for using electronic sources Conclusion : Positive attitude of faculty members toward electronic learning requires implementation of continuous education programs for faculty members in order to improve their knowledge about information technology and uptodate electronic learning skills
