Background & Objective: Clinical training is of great importance in dentistry and has a direct impact on health of the society and treatment of patients The present study was conducted with the aim to obtain students point of views about facilities physical environment and training methods in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology School of Dentistry of Kerman University of Medical Sciences Iran Methods: This descriptive and crosssectional study was conducted on dental students who had had passed at least 1 unit of radiology course The participants were selected through census sampling method The data collection tool was a questionnaire consisting of 28 items in 5 scales and a section on demographic information The 5 scales consisted of evaluation of equipment quality of education in terms of diagnosis skills quality of education in terms of clinical skills practical education on patients and miscellaneous questions The questionnaire was designed by the researchers and its validity and reliability were evaluated Data were analyzed in SPSS software using ttest and analysis of variance (ANOVA) All Pvalues of less than 005 were considered significant Results: Of the 146 respondents 432% were men and 568% were women The mean score of the questionnaire was 7624 ± 1442 from a total of 140 Overall students satisfaction was at a moderate level Students satisfaction level with practical training in different techniques and bone and dental fractures diagnosis using radiography was low In the students view the quantity and quality of radiography devices was inadequate There was no statistically significant association between different inputs in terms of satisfaction and the students gender Conclusion: The students in the present study were relatively satisfied with radiology courses However in their opinion the quantity and quality of radiology devices were low Thus the repairing and updating of the radiography devices is recommended

Background and Objective: Outpatient educational environments are used for the teaching of a broad range of medical disciplines. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to assess these environments with valid and reliable tools. The Ambulatory Care Learning Education Environment Measure (ACLEEM) can be used for this purpose. The objective of this study was to assess the educational environment at outpatient clinics in teaching hospitals of Kerman University of Medical Sciences, Kerman, Iran.Methods: This descriptive-analytical study which was cross-sectional in nature was conducted in Kerman University of Medical Sciences in 2013-14. The study population, based on census sampling, consisted of 70 residents specializing in internal, gynecological, pediatric, and surgical disciplines. The data collection tool was a valid and reliable questionnaire consisting of 2 sections, demographic questions and 50 questions in 8 domains. Data were analyzed using SPSS software and descriptive tests (frequency, mean, and standard deviation) and analytical tests (ANOVA and t-test).Results: The total score of the questionnaire was 62.90 which showed the partially desirable status of the outpatient educational environment in the studied population. In terms of the total scores for each domain, the domains of clinical teacher competence (14.91 ± 2.99), clinical activity and patient care (12.85 ± 2.78), and time allocation for nonclinical activities (8.94 ± 2.93) obtained the highest scores, respectively. There was no significant relationship between sex, age, and educational year and mean score of each domain (P > 0.05). However, this relationship was significant for the field of study variable (P < 0.05). The highest mean score was related to gynecology residents (65.68 ± 5.7) and the lowest mean score was related to surgery residents (60.60 ± 5.9).Conclusion: The findings showed that the resident's perspective of the outpatient environment is not satisfactory. Therefore, it is expected that the related authorities provide a favorable and conducive environment for teaching and learning through planning.

Background & Objective: Evaluation is necessary to ensure the quality of education in any educational system Any educational program needs to be evaluated critically before any modification and revision This study was conducted to evaluate the program of Bachelor Degree in Health Services Management at Kerman University of Medical Sciences Iran by applying the CIPP model of evaluation (Context Input Process Product) Methods: In this crosssectional descriptive study 10 faculty members 64 students and 90 alumni participated Three valid and reliable questionnaires were completed regarding four dimensions and nine domains of CIPP model In order to analyze the data ManWhitney Pearson correlation and descriptive statistic tests were applied Results: The whole scores for the context input process and product were 234 297 368 and 255 respectively Faculty members significantly gave a higher total score for context in comparison to alumni (P < 005) nevertheless there was not any significant difference between these both groups regarding the product total score In addition there was not any significant difference between faculty members and students in input and process scores A significant correlation was observed for different dimensions of the CIIP model (P < 005) Totally health care management program was evaluated as a partially accepted program Conclusion: CIPP evaluation model can show the advantages and disadvantages of an educational program therefore decision and policy makers can come to a point whether to stop review or continue a program

Background & Objective: Dentistry is a stressful job and dental students are exposed to educational and environmental stresses The aim of this study was to determine the stress level in dental students Methods: This crosssectional study was conducted on students of School of Dentistry Kerman University of Medical Sciences Iran Data were collected by Depression Anxiety and Stress Scales (DASS21) standard questionnaire and analyzed by linear regression and ttest Results: 326% of students had moderate and 43% had severe stress There was no significant differences between sex academic year mean of scores and stress level Married students had more stress (P = 0037) Students staying with their parents had low stress level (P = 0047) In 66% of students the university issues were stressor Conclusion: Based on the result of this study stress level among dental students is fairly high greater attention to this issue is recommended

Background & Objective: One of the most important factors in students learning is their learning style whose identification helps to produce an optimal and effective learning program This study aimed to determine the learning styles in medical students and providing an appropriate teaching method based on their views Methods: This crosssectional study was conducted in 2011 on 276 medical students who were chosen by proportional to size method The means of data collection was a questionnaire which included three parts ie demographic factors Kolbs learning styles and questions about teaching methods Then the data were collected and analyzed Results: Learning style of most of the students was assimilator (471%) and the order afterwards was divergent style (268%) convergent (185%) and accommodator (76%) respectively The most appropriate teaching methods from the viewpoints of students were concept attainment ward report and caseconference methods No statistically significant association was found between the learning style and the variables of age gender academic year and material status There was a statistically significant association between the habitat of students and their wish to continue study however in urban students was accommodator and in students who wanted to study in postgraduate levels learning style was divergent Conclusion: Considering note that medical students have chosen concept attainment ward report and caseconference methods as appropriate pattern of teaching for their training this results are helpful for medical education system so that to improve students learning The lecturers had better bring studentcentered approach in which learners have an active role to learn rather than uniform teaching method such as lectures

Background and objectives: It is believed that any discrepancy between learning style of students and their field of study leads to their dissatisfaction and consequently dropping out of school The aim of this study was to compare the learning styles of Nursing students in Kerman Razi Nursing School in 2009 Methods : In this crosssectional study performed in 2009 all undergraduate and postgraduate Nursing students of Razi Nursing School (n=148) were asked to complete Kolb learning style inventory (KLSI) Version 31 Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics Results : From all students 878% were studying in undergraduate and 122% in master programs Among undergraduate students assimilator learning style (485%) and among master students convergent learning styles (444%) had the highest frequencies There was a statistically significant difference between learning styles of undergraduate and master students (P=0028) Conclusion: Since nursing is an occupation requiring interaction and communication with people attention of nursing teachers to the learning styles of their students is very essential for promotion of community health It is suggested that nursing teachers use a variety of teaching methods based on students educational level and preferred learning style

Background & Objective : Expensive medical educational cost long term education and difficult lessons all support this evidence that with unemployment of medical graduates in professional activities much national stock will be used vainly Due to lack of enough knowledge and documents about medical graduates career activities this study was conducted in order to evaluate their career status Methods : In a retrospective cohort study all 528 medical graduates who were graduated between 2001and 2007 from Kerman University of Medical Sciences were studied Necessary data latest career and educational status of medical graduates were collected by direct and indirect phone interviews In order to determine the impact of effective factors on career status and residency exam acceptance Logistic Regression and Survival analyses were applied Results : The access rate to graduates was 86% At least three years after graduation 62% of medical graduates were engaged in medical careers which were mostly in clinics military or social services personal offices and clinical specialties Among all subjects 40 persons (76%) were jobless and almost the same rate was doing non medical jobs Eighteen percent were engaged in working or studying in clinical specialties and others had left Iran Survival analysis showed that female physicians were employed faster and more in medical professions (median for female and male were 38 & 45 years respectively P=0009) Women were more successful than men in professional careers (12%) and residency exam acceptance (17%) which were not statically significant Mean score during education was effective factor on residency exam acceptance Conclusion : It seems that almost 20% of medical graduates in Kerman City were not employed in careers related to their education in long term prospect (more than three years after graduation) or left the country It is important to consider causes of male physicians failure in comparison with female physicians while there is a great need to male physicians services low income can somehow explain it

Background & Objective: The rate of using new information services such as Internet is an important criterion for the assessment of development This study was designed to determine the rate of using internet and biomedical databases by academic staffs of Kerman Medical University (KMU) and their attitude towards the available services Methods : In this crosssectional study 120 individuals referring to the KMU Information Center during a period of three months (the first semester of 2006) were selected by convenience sampling and examined by a selfreported questionnaire consisted of 4 sections related to the demographic features subjects opinions about the availability of soft/hardware and subjects attitude and practice in regard to using Internet Results : The response rate was 74% About 64% of the subjects had personal computers at home of whom only 535% had internet connection Only 35% of male respondents and 20% of female respondents had access to KMU Internet connection (P=012) Among 97% of subjects who had active email addresses only 213% used KMU email service About 73% of the subjects were using the subscribed fulltext databases of KMU Science direct Ovid Blackwell Image MD and MD Consult were respectively the most used sources According to the subjects Internet connection at home had a significant positive effect on their professional communications and use of email services (P
