Background & Objective: In nursing clinical education due to its importance is known as the heart of professional education One of the skills taught in the clinical environment is nursing procedures Studies show that even students who have complete theoretical knowledge are unable to provide care and perform the required skills at the clients bedside independently Thus the present study was carried out with the aim to reveal the problems and challenges of nursing students in nursing procedures training Methods: This descriptiveexploratory study was conducted with qualitative approach in 2016 The study participants consisted of 12 students from the School of Nursing Purposive sampling was conducted until data saturation Data were collected through interviews All interviews were taperecorded handwritten and analyzed line by line To analyze the data conventional content analysis was used Results: From the interviews 5 main categories and 17 subcategories which represent students experiences of the challenges of nursing procedures training were extracted The categories included the transition from skill lab to practice discrepancies between education and clinical practice fears practice of clinical instructor and students characteristics Conclusion: Students are only able to perform the correct nursing procedures when the appropriate training is provided Considering the entrance behavior of students attracting and employing experienced clinical teachers and improving the learning environment can help in overcoming the obstacles expressed by students

Background & Objective: Simulation is an educational technique which through providing whole or part of a clinical experience helps students to learn without being afraid of either their personal weaknesses or hurting the patient during interaction Manipulation of medical education is widely being spread all over the world and this can be due to various factors such as technological improvements ethical issues relating to practicing clinical skills crowdedness of clinical environments for educational purposes illness severity in most patients drop in the length of patients stay in the hospitals shortage of specialized staff in hospitals to facilitate educational process and so on Methods: The current study has reviewed existing books library references papers and essays available in different scientific databases using keywords of “simulation” “medical education” and “clinical skills” Results: Simulation offers several advantages including increase in patients safety reinforcement of interactive learning and studentcentered improvement in problemsolving abilities and critical thinking skills and selfpaced learning Despite all the abovementioned benefits the point is that due to the high costs of simulation equipment as well as improper cost management policies particularly in educational centers several studies should be run to analyze outcomes of manipulation of different simulators on students learning and then based on the efficiency of the simulators the proper ones be used for educational purposes in clinical environments

Background & Objective: In order to achieve an efficient teaching in all fields including Medicine effective teachers are needed and to evaluate the efficiency of teachers students comments are a remarkable indicator Since during the recent decades Emotional Intelligence has been mentioned as one of the characteristics of distinguished teachers this study aimed to investigate the emotional intelligence and its components among professors of basic sciences level of Medicine field selected as distinguished teachers by senior students in comparison to other professors in this level Methods: In this descriptive study all Medicine students of the selected university in the final semester of basic sciences phase (n=65) were asked to name their five top distinguished teachers Finally 8 teachers who had the highest votes were considered as the distinguished group To assess teachers emotional intelligence the standard questionnaire of BarOn is distributed among all teachers of basic sciences (53 cases) and their emotional intelligence in 15 different components was evaluated Data were analyzed through SPSS software and by using correlation and independent ttest Results: Mean total score of Emotional Intelligence of distinguished teachers (35213) was higher compared to that of the other teachers (33788) but the difference was not significant The scores of distinguished group in the subscales of happiness optimism selfconfidence and flexibility were significantly higher compared to the other teachers (P

Background & Objective : Identifying faculty members educational needs and level of their skills in teaching affairs would improve planning for faculty members development and sublimity This study was performed to assess attitude of faculty members who are teaching practical courses towards their educational needs and level of skills in teaching methods of practical courses Methods : In this descriptive study 83 faculty members teaching practical courses in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences were selected by stratified random sampling and completed a reliable and valid questionnaire consisted of 14 items about educational needs and skill level of teaching methods in practical courses Results : The mean (±SD) score of faculty members skill level was 271(±04) out of four Faculty members skill level was low (mean score less than 25) in analysis and interpretation of the test questions (389%) evaluation methods of practical skills (535%) designing performance tests (528%) and making educational films (479%) Mean (±SD) total score of educational needs was 345(±089) out of five According to these results faculty members were in need of all 14 aforementioned items Educational needs included critical thinking motivating methods and information resources in order of priority Conclusion : Faculty members expressed need for education and improving their skills in teaching practical courses Considering mentioned educational needs and skills it seems that teaching method and student assessment workshops need to be revised and the content of the workshops should be designed according to faculty members educational needs together with implementing different educational methods
