Background & Objective: Cheating in the university can be a predictor of workplace fraud and workplace fraud among physicians and specialists will have negative consequences This study was performed for the purpose of determining the prevalence of all kinds of cheating among medical students which were in their last three years of Medical School at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences Iran in 2010 Methods: The study sample consisted of 136 medical students in their last three years of study The participants were selected through simple random sampling The data collection tool was a selfadministered questionnaire The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by experts and its reliability was reported as 087 in a study Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent ttest (for the variable of gender) in SPSS statistical software Results: All students answered the questionnaire; thus the response rate was 100% Among the respondents 64% were male and the rest female According to the results more than 80% of students had experienced copying during an exam at least once during the academic period Moreover 25% of students have performed at least one kind of plagiarism in writing their thesis and essays The performance of medical students in the clinical course showed that 50% of students had cheated at least once during their academic period The rate of cheating was significantly lower in female students Conclusion: Although the majority of students have a positive attitude and believe cheating to be a dishonest action half of them have cheated This may be due to stress caused by examinations Therefore it seems that students behaviors should be changed and they must receive the necessary training in this regard so that stress is not the cause of fraud and this phenomenon is inhibited

Background & Objective : The importance of considering general trainings of students and gaining updated knowledge together with curriculum overload and large volume of lessons especially in medicine necessitate presenting most of the students educational needs in form of short term courses Hence this study aimed to assess the participants point of view about the first national interdisciplinary summer school regarding achievement of educational objectives in Shiraz Methods : In overall 63 students from 13 universities of medical sciences participated in this course The topics were divided into four major groups including medical education medical ethics management ingenuity and creativity with their subgroups They were discussed in 83 issues during 100 working hours using lectures and other active educational methods Results : According to the students point of view the highest educational efficiency belonged to medical education and then to ingenuity and creativity More than 90% of executers mentioned that achieving educational objectives in each subgroup was very good or excellent According to the evaluation the mean score ( ± SD) of the programs executers and lecturers was 1897( ± 118) out of 20 Conclusion : Considering the effectiveness of this program continuing such a program allocating resources and developing them should be noticed in all universities

Background & Objective: Evidencebased medicine (EBM) is defined as the application of the best research evidence in making decisions in the management of the individual patient EBM due to its importance has obtained great consideration in recent years This study was designed to determine the knowledge of Medical residents in Shiraz School of Medicine about EBM and the application of it by them Methods : In this crosssectional study performed in 2006 71 residents of Shiraz School of Medicine were studied by using a questionnaire The validity of the questionnaire was approved by getting experts opinions and internal consistency reliability was determined in a pilot study Results : In whole 939% of residents had positive attitudes toward EBM but 803% of them reported that they had not passed any formal education in this field From all participants 85% have access to internet but more than 70% of them were not aware of EBM resources and 609% of them mentioned that for the management of their patients during the previous year they had used Medline or other search engines less than 10 times Conclusion : According to the obtained results in spite of positive attitude toward EBM and internet access residents have not yet integrated the use of EBM with their professional practice widely and also they are not familiar with specific EBM Sites This may be due to the lack of education in the field of EBM Because of the important role of Medical residents in making clinical decisions and also their role in training Medical students inclusion of EBM training courses in their educational program is highly necessary
