Background: Having a mentor affects nursing students' academic achievement and motivation.Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the effects of the mentoring program delivered by talented and gifted postgraduate students on motivation, academic achievement, and research activities of undergraduate nursing students of Kashan University of Medical Sciences in 2020.Methods: In this formal mentoring program designed as quasi-experimental pre-post-test design research, 29 out of 37 eligible undergraduate nursing students with a low-grade point average (GPA) enrolled voluntarily. After completing the Science Motivation Questionnaire (SMQ), 21 students with low or moderate motivation entered the study as part of either mentee (n=10) or the control group (n=11). Five talented master's degree students were selected as mentors, each joining with two mentees and leading them through specific programs during one semester. At the beginning and end of the semester, students' academic motivation, the number of research activities, and educational performance were evaluated and analyzed by covariance (ANCOVA) and paired t-tests.Results: The students in the mentee group had higher academic motivation than the control group (P = 0.05); 80% of mentees had more than one research activity, while the controls had no research activities (P<0.001), and there was no significant difference between the two groups in the Grade Point Average (GPA) (P=0.110).Conclusion: Talented students could play the role of mentors well, and applying a mentoring program enhanced undergraduate nursing students' academic motivation and research activities and prevented a decline in their GPAs.

Background & Objective: Motivation is the driving force beyond all human activities Without motivation human species are not capable of implementing any planned activity The more ones motivation is in line with her interests and skill sets the higher chance the individual has to achieve success in her professional and educational endeavors This study was performed to determine midwifery students motivation and related factors about their field Methods: This descriptive crosssectional study was conducted on all midwifery students who were studying at Islamic Azad University of Rasht in the first semester of academic year 20112012 The information was gathered through a questionnaire which has two parts personal information and questions about motivation for choosing field of study The data was analyzed by SPSS software version 16 using descriptive and analytical statistics Results: The mean score of students motivation for choosing field of study was 4985 ± 614 which was higher than the acceptable score There no significant relationship between score of motivation and research variables (job and education of parents marital status and university entry quotas living place diploma score economic situation and students age) Conclusion: Our research shows that the students of midwifery are highly motivated and have great enthusiasm for studying this academic discipline Therefore it is imperative for the authorities to seize this opportunity and make an allout effort to improve the educational standards of promising students in order to maximize their productivity

Background & Objective: Education is one of the fundamental pillars for developing capabilities skills and competencies in the society Comparing elearning and traditional teaching methods help teachers and educational stakeholders in designing developing and implementing appropriate learning courses for learners The purpose of this study was to compare lecturebased and elearning methods effects on learning and motivating physicians on the topic of acute respiratory failure using models strategies and techniques of instructional design Methods: In a quasiexperimental study 60 general physicians selected by available sampling were divided into two equal groups (n = 30) based on the two instructional methods Learning content in the control group was based on the compiled programs of Continuing Medical Education and in the elearning group it was based on the same programs with integration of the instructional design models Data were collected in pretest posttest using motivation assessing questionnaire using Merrill and Reigeluth models Results : There was no significant difference between pretest and posttest scores of participants (P > 005) But after educational programs the motivation of physicians in control group (1261 ± 397) was significantly (P < 005) less than experimental group (14383 ± 545) Conclusion: The results of this study showed a significant increase in participants motivation after using electronic medical continuing education
