Background & Objective: Classrooms are suitable places for transferring teachers experiences to the students and a better understanding of educational contents The students absence from theoretical classes has been one of the increasing and most important educational problems in medical universities in recent years This study was performed to determine the effective factors on theoretical class attendance according to nursing and midwifery students point of view in Kerman Razi School of Nursing and Midwifery Kerman University of Medical Sciences 2003 Methods: In this descriptive – analytic study 320 nursing and midwifery students were asked to fill in the researchermade questionnaires using a census method Totally 217 questionnaires were filled Results : Among all 217 students 879% were female and 757% were single Students mean age (± SD) was 224(±4) years Native students were 567% and only 146% were employed Among the effective factors on theoretical class attendance the highest mean scores belong to “teachers scientific dominance and orientation” (47) “students interest in the related topic” (467) “proper teaching method” (466) “importance of class attendance for better comprehension of the lesson” (458) and the lowest mean scores belong to “classrooms physical environment” (385) “not attending the class as a duty” (388) using audiovisual aids (395) Conclusion : The findings showed that attending classes is affected by factors related to both teachers and studentsBut the teachers scientific dominance and orientation teaching methodology and students involvement during class discussions are the main factors which determine students attendance in the classes

Background: Investigation of the opinions of individuals involved in education (faculty and student) makes the assessment of the faculty educational performance more valid and helpusimprove quality as an objective of evaluation A method to decrease subjectivity in evaluation of teachers by student is self – assessment especially when evaluation aims to find shortages & help to improve education Objective: This survey is to compare the self – assessment of the faculty with student assessment about the faculty teaching method Methods: To do this descriptiveanalytical study two questionnaires with ten questions in four categories designed in EDC were randomly distributed among 600 students and 160 faculty members teaching theory lessons 1530 questionnaires were returned by students and 137 questionnaires by the faculty members Data were analyzed using t and ManWhitney U tests and Spearmans correlation confident Results: The mean of self – assessment score of the faculty was more than mean of student evaluation score about their teachers (428 ± 049 vs 339 ± 051 P < 00001) There was a significant although poor relationship between students and teachers assessment on evaluation by student (r = 025 P

Background: Teachers performance evaluation is one of the most important tools in the education process It is used to determine weaknesses and strengths of education so that by reinforcing the strong points we can improve the education quality Objective: To determine the validity and reliability of practical and theoretical teaching evaluation questionnaires regarding the faculty by the students in Kerman University of Medical Sciences Methods: The validity and reliability of the existing EDC questionnaires were reevaluated At first the content validity and weight of each item were calculated using the faculty members views then the internal consistency of the questionnaires was determined by alpha chronbach Results: Theoretical and practical teaching methods categories including six and seven items showed the highest validity (095 and 097 respectively) The evaluation category in questionnaire on the theoretical courses indicated the lowest validity (069) The questionnaires having 091 and 097 reliability were considered proper for teacher evaluation according to the students Conclusion: The results of this research showed that only one item should be omitted because of the absence of the suitable content validity However to final confirmation of validity and reliability it is better to use construct validity and test retest methods respectively
