Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused international health concerns. University students, especially medical students, considered to experience higher anxiety levels. This high level of anxiety may lead to many challenges and unfavorable consequences. Objectives: This study aimed to assess psychological well-being and the prevalence of anxiety among medical students of Kerman University of Medical Sciences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: An online cross-sectional survey was conducted on Kerman University of Medical Sciences medical students from April to June 2021. The participants were asked to complete Corona Disease Anxiety Scale (CDAS), Goldberg and Hiller’s General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28), and a demographic information questionnaire. Data were analyzed by statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) for windows, version 24, at the significance level of p <0.05 and highly significant level of p<0.001. The multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) and multiple regression were employed as Statistical tests. Results: A total of 201 medical students participated, 60.3% being female. The adjusted mean score of COVID-19 anxiety was 11.05 (1.91), and the mean scores obtained for GHQ28 subscales, including somatic, anxiety, social dysfunction, and depression symptoms, were 5.82 (4.41), 7.75 (3.18), 4.49 (5.14), and 10.12 (7.25), respectively. Different factors, including gender and educational level, significantly affected the components of these two questionnaires. Based on linear regression model, anxiety/Insomnia and depression subscales of GHQ28 questionnaire increased COVID-19 anxiety levels. Conclusion: The COVID-19-related anxiety level of medical students was mild. Female students and students with higher educational levels experienced more anxiety attributable to COVID-19. The general anxiety and depression levels were mild. These data highlight that in critical circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic, university authorities need to consider medical students’ psychological well-being.

Background & Objective: Nursing staff can prevent asphyxia and neonatal mortality by learning the correct resuscitation principles Therefore this study was performed with the aim to determine the effectiveness of teaching through simulation and filming of the performance of nurses in neonatal resuscitation Methods: In this experimental study 40 nursing staff were divided into teams of 2 nurses through simple randomization The level of knowledge before and after the intervention was evaluated using a written exam To assess performance before and after the intervention simulated environment and scenario building were used All stages of resuscitation of the teams were filmed Before training the experimental group participants viewed their videos and were trained through error analysis practicing on manikin and viewing educational videos of resuscitation (2011) The videos were evaluated and scored by two instructors through doubleblind techniques and using a standard checklist Data were analyzed in SPSS software using independent sample ttest paired ttest repeated measurement and Pearson correlation coefficient Results: The level of knowledge in the control and experimental groups increased by 9 and 10 scores respectively This difference was not statistically significant (P = 0830) Before the training no statistically significant difference was observed in terms of performance (P = 0109) However one month after training a significant difference was observed between the two groups in terms of performance (P < 0001) This reflects the effect of training on performance of the experimental group Conclusion: The results showed that the simultaneous use of simulation and filming for training will be more effective in the learning process Thus it is better that both techniques be used for training to be more effective

Background & Objective: In addition to teaching predesigned courses physicians are usually expected to participate directly in designing curriculum during their professional life Today traditional education systems are not sufficient for developing the expected competencies in physicians One of the applications of new advancements by cognitive sciences in curriculum design is the development of strategies for improving the quality of the undergraduate medical education curriculum Educational strategies are “fundamentaloriented decisions in teaching which are aimed to achieve educational goals” Methods: This was a narrative review that introduced and explained the most important educational strategies in undergraduate medical curriculum through surveying valid electronic and library resources Results: Now the most important educational strategies in undergraduate medical curriculum are: a series of studentcentered problembased learning integrated or interprofessional teaching communitybased electivedriven and systematic strategies (SPICES) and also a set of strategies that are productfocused relevant interprofessional short courses multisite locations and symbiotic (PRISMS) and a group of realistic integrated feedback learning and evaluation strategies (RIFLE) as well Conclusion: Each strategy is represented as a spectrum In each spectrum the educational planner must define the position of every component of the curriculum In order to apply these strategies the curriculum must be intervened according to the selected strategy so that the results of the evaluations and evidence of interventions ensure the planners that the quality of the curriculum is improved
